signature

Permit applications with contractor or subcontractor information now require the signature of the license holder performing the work. This change applies to both residential and non-residential applications and is a legal requirement by the state of North Carolina.

To assist with this process there are now separate residential and non-residential permit applications.

For general contractors who are not ready to list subcontractors at the time of permit application a non-residential addendum is available for submittal prior to permit issuance.

Permit applications will be processed without all signatures, but permits will not be issued until all signatures are received. E-signatures that meet the legal requirements for digital signatures under NC law will be accepted on any application or addendum where the only thing required is a signature.

Collecting signatures of any kind is solely the responsibility of the applicant.

REMINDER | To avoid submission delays, always verify that you are using the most recent version of applications and checklists. We recommend you do not download/save any applications or checklists to your computer. Using them directly from the raleighnc.gov website ensures you always have access to the most up to date form or checklist.
